Find the perfect meeting point
Most “meet in the middle” tools draw a straight line between two addresses and call it done. halfway.guru uses an Equitable Midpoint Algorithm that accounts for real travel time, not raw distance. The result is a meeting spot where both people spend roughly the same number of minutes in transit — even when one person is driving and the other is on foot.
Under the hood, halfway.guru queries live Transit Matrices for every combination of origin, candidate midpoint, and travel mode. Driving routes are modelled separately from walking routes, so a car commuter and a pedestrian will always converge on a point that is genuinely equitable for both modes — not just the average of their postcodes.
Once the equitable midpoint is pinpointed, the app switches to Isochrone-Based Discovery: it draws a reachability boundary around that point and surfaces only the cafes, restaurants, and bars that fall within it. Results are ranked by rating, filtered by your chosen vibe and time of day, and cached for the session so that switching between “Coffee” and “Dinner” never triggers a redundant API call.
